Except for DAZ, apparently.
Oh yes, the "versatility at all costs" that sacrificed so much realistic detail in morphs and clothing... G2F's stuff is SO much better, I can totally see the difference! :'D [/sarcasm]
Sorry, but I know we've yet to see G2M, but really, we're already three, almost four characters into Gen 6 and I'm sorry, I agree with the grudgy grumps that we've still yet to see what a gender-specific split is doing for PA content...
I admit that Daz has always produced high quality figures (G2F included, sigh!) but a lot of what they did was constrained by Poser architecture. I though Genesis was a really bold and gusty move by Daz as it really split the market. With DSON still not working on the launch of Genesis a lot of Poser users missed out on Genesis versitility. Also content creators responded by digging their heels in and maintaining support for Gen4 figures. I'm not sure if giving Daz Studio Pro away for free helped much because some content creating tools still had issues and also no documention (I still see new products released in other marketplaces with "not tested in Daz Studio" warning).
Daz Genesis figure got industry recognition but at I think at a high price of fragmeting the market. There was a return salvo from the Poser camp with their own weightmapped figures that at first didn't work in Daz Studio (Anastasia - no / Dawn - yes), but regardless of that these other figures don't quite have the appeal of Daz figures IMO. I'm sure we all admit Daz figures are "da bomb" (ok old skool slang but don't shoot me) with a lot of attention to detail and load of morphs. Maybe not great for animators but awesome for still renders.
I think a lot of eyes are on Daz at the momment to see what they'll do next. Poser will not change it's architecture just to support a figure (especially not one of their own). And Daz Studio users and the industry loved the Genesis versistility (regardless of how more refine G2F is). So where to from here? G2M won't solve the split with a split (little play with words there folks) but I think will make many happy to have G2M none the less. Anyhoot regardless of all this I'll always pine for Genesis Unisex - a beautiful thing snuffed out in it's infancy.

One, the first figure with rigging incompatible with one platform was not Genesis, it was Miki 4. People did "get" her to work in DS, but not without a good amount of work.
Two, nobody has "snuffed" Genesis 1, because a good 90% of the products made for G2F (and eventually G2M) will work just fine on it (even if no one was still making content for it, and we are).
Thanks SY. Always nice to hear from a content creator. I remember Miki 2 was on some disc I got years ago with Poser 5 on it as well. I had constant crash problems with Poser 5 and so never got to try Miki 2. Not long after I discovered Daz Studio 1.8 with Aiko 3 and fell in love with 3D. I guess first impressions really count because I've always stuck with DS but look on Poser with apprehension (I have Poser 8 only used to fix Poser files to work in DS). Anyhoot nice to hear you'll still support G1.
Maybe now, but once G2M finally hits the seen and starts pushing out characters, that all could quickly change, as it does every generation...
Here is my take for on Nalin the drag queen.
I'd hit it.
What can I say, I like dudes in ladies' clothing.

No problem, I like boys who look and dress feminine, myself. ;) Though, I was never a big fan of guys with long female-like hair for some reason. I blame my recent past life when I was supposedly a gay hair stylist. :P
