Losing selection sets after deleting geometry

I followed the instructions posted in: https://direct.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203161/how-to-delete-parts-of-the-model-in-daz (select geometry - hide geometry - delete gemoetry). As soon as I delete the geometry all selection sets are gone. Yet it does not matter if the geometry was in a selection set or not.

How can I avoid loosing my selection sets?
