The horses look quite powerful and the setting is really good. If it didn't take an enormous amount of time to render, might I suggest a bit of a dull rim light from behind the black horse so he doesn't blend in quite so much with the dark background? His mane/head is a bit difficult to see, but that could just be my monitor, or it might be the way you wanted it. It's just personal preference.
If you added light you could still keep most of the foreground/land under them dark for the contrast you went for, but that mane is almost completely lost so far as what my screen is showing. Since you're shooting back toward the viewer, even a dull spotlight shooting up from the other side of the horse would work because it wouldn't hit anything else.
I also like the way the black horse is off centered and going out of the frame.

It's good to catch up with some of your work, Trish! Your lady looks very regal and proud, and does that beautiful dress justice. I'm also drawn to that gorgeous Bryce render with the dragon and castle. Love that ocean and the composition too.

I'm a sucker for the long dresses and that historical look too. Keep 'em coming, Trish! Dragon Queen looks wistful and a little sad, it makes me wonder who she is looking for out there in the distance and whether she will get her happy ending...
I'm having fun with the new girl in my av, didn't think I'd fall in love with toons but 3DU got me hooked!
Thanks for the comments on Blender models, I badly need to get some more of those finished and posted. I won't lie, Blender has a steep learning curve and it is steepest right at the start. Doesn't act like anything you've probably used before, the Z axis for example goes up-and-down and the Y axis goes back-to-front. Also right at the start it's boring as you'll just be moving cubes around and trying to figure out where everything is.
That said, it's definitely worth sticking with it. I know some great beginner tutorials if you wanted to give it a go (not the Blender Cookie ones which I don't think are all that beginner-friendly, though they have some fantastic intermediate ones).

The only thing is the amount of spine showing....if the hood then indicates the space where the skull would be, the hood would need to be higher. You could fudge it by blackening a few of the vertebrae. Just a suggestion; cute image.

Just a little Halloween fun......
I have been gone lately.....recovered from a blue screen twice....There were programs starting with windows that should not have been....you never know just how much you depend on the computer till it does not work......

Well bigh was right it worked for a little while but it turned out to be my hard drive so now I am in the process of downloading everything again....oh boy what fun!!! But at least I have a 3 year warrenty on this western digital HD so maybe everything will be ok for that amount of time../.......Trish
