SAving character exactly

I have created a character based on genesis 8 female.

Intend to use it for my own use.

Have spent days/hours refining shapes  in zbrush and DAZ, and face gen

Have spent hours creating the maps.

Work is done.

Could save this in a daz scene and back up.

Can I save the character and maps and morphs in daz library which will reload EXACTLY HOW  I SAVED IT.

Pose irrevelent.,camera does not matter, lighting not important

    A scene or Scene subset will save everything, a Character preset will, if used to load a new figure, embed the morphs and will include the materials.

    Too much work involvrd in this character to risk losing

    As anticipated scene that contained figure gone.

    What is left is the character preset.

    Now, when i click to load i get either a bounding box, or a yellow outline.

    How can I make use of  the preset, it is all i have.

    You din't save a Scene? I'm sorry, I don't knoww hy the Character preset would fail - it might indicate there was an issue with the data inside DS.

    At the same time saved scene few versions labelled keep, saved character preset.

    Due to computer problems scene files lost.

    Character preset is there.

    Now, what do you do essentially with a character preset.

    In a new scene do you just click to load?

    Do you take a character and apply preset to it?

    Yellow outline looks correct, scales, but nothing inside.

    In retrospect should have backed up scene in muliple locations.

    As I mentioned this represented days of work, this is a click to the solar plexus.

    You click to load, that should bring in a new figure (if you already have a figure selected it may modu=ify that, which won't load any custom morphs, or it may ask you what to do, or it may load a new figure). What yellow outline do you mean?

    Created another figure.

    Saved as Character preset.

    load scene, character preset loaded into scene.

    One of two things happens. I either get a yellow outline of figure or bounding boxes.

    Well, that is loading as a figure - unfortunately that doesn't mean the geometry is there. What does the yellow outline look like? How was it customised - morphs, or had you changed the geometry itself?

    Further:

    Bit the bullet

    Redid character, went faster than before.( 2days vs 3)

    Have multiple external drives ( ebooks) and flash drives, will be backing up to them as well as C drive

    Thank you for your help, you wiii undestand when I say ,to me, Character Preset is worthless and should not

    be thought of as a valuable "save" tool
