How to split a pair of shoes?

Just bought a nice pair of sports shoes (didn't really needed them ASAP but I liked them very much, no to mention I like the promotions too) so to justify my purchase I decided to split them and throw the separated shoes on the floor of campus room, thus adding some orderly disorder. So the question - is there a way to split them w/o loosing their autofit and/or morphing capabilities?

Not sure why you'd want to keep autofit/morphing for a shoe lying on the floor, but I have done this by loading the shoes twice (so there are four shoes in the scene), then using the geometry editor to get rid of one shoe from each pair.

To use the geometry editor, you first hide the geometry of the shoe you want to delete, then you choose the option to delete hidden geometry. DAZ Studio crashes half the time when deleting hidden geometry, so save your scene so you can retry over and over until it works.

Thanks. I will use them later as shoes and yes, I know I can simply reinstall the package manually but if it is an easy job to separate them why not:-)

  • You could also just load two copies of the shoes and hide one foot in each - invisible nodes aren't sent to the renderer.

Nice! I forgot the bones are actually the "bones" of the shoe and hiding them will hide the shoe itself. So then I can save it as a scene and will merge it lately when the separated shoes are needed, right?

  • Yes, that should save and reload.

LOL... If only someone have told me I must hide one left and one right shoe instead of hiding two rights shoes:-(

Maybe the owner has two left feet?
