Daz world,
Anyone know of any place where custom face can be ordered? I've tried headshop and I am not happy with it at all . I've heard facegen is not that great either. I'm trying to build a pic of my kids so I wondered if anyone is doing custom faces for DS ?
Thanks,
Not meant to discourage you, but, unfortunately, I am not aware of anyone that routinely offers such a service. There is a good reason for that. Creating a credible custom character of any sort is a time-consuming exercise. If the character is then going to be offered for sale, the creator can look at trying to recoup their costs over multiple sales of the item, thus allowing for a reasonable cost-per-unit. On the other hand, creating a one-off custom figure for the exclusive use of one client means that the creator must recover their time and efforts through a single transaction. That might raise the cost to a point where there is a limited demand, and thus few, if any, creators pursue that. The problem is doubly so for a character created to represent an actual, living human being, since far more time and care is required to produce a credible result that would be acceptable to the client.
You may find someone willing and able to do it, but you may need to look elsewhere, since DAZ does not, for the most part, offer fee--for-services. Other 3D or art sites more commonly offer commission work.
Mind you, I'm not recommanding it. I don't own it, so I have absolutely no clue if it does properly what it claims to be able to do. Maybe it's absolutely great, maybe it's utter crap, I don't know. That's just a suggestion.
By the way, I'm a complete beginner, and I've discovered recently that it's much easier than I thought it would be to get an approximation of a face with the basic head morph tool for G8 that costs $ 10. So, maybe you could try to do it yourself, and you might be pleasantly surprised and satisfied by the result, even if you don't get a perfectly identical face.
facegen can be a good starting point, I only have the one for Genesis and Genesis 2 but with GenX and various morph packages can tweak it quite a lot, all the same you will never get a realistic face with any modelling technique as people's expressions vary so much, you really need personalized morphs for every expression too.
the day DAZ releases a mocap program using facial markers to correspond to all those facial bones they have it might be viable
I am actually speculating they have something in the works but since licensing for current systems so dear probably have to create their own, you know you can also shape the face using those bones in powerpose on genesis 8 and exporting a base obj to load in morphloader.

you can try to get close to what you want with morphs.
