Hey, how does the Bryce 7.5 and Poser Pro 2014 pipeline work? Is it easy to exchange files without having to convert files?

@patrickgobels - the current version of Bryce is 7.1.0.109 and I don't know what the future holds. Bryce has, since version 5.5, a bridge to DAZ Studio, not to Poser. However export as, and import from, Wavefront obj works a charm.

    Hi

I started my 3D life with Bryce, back then it was Bryce 2, as that was the forst version of Bryce that would work on a PC. When I decided that I need to put figures into my Bryce scenes Poser was really the only program on the Market that could do this, and at the time they belonged to the same software producer. So i bought Bryce 3 Poser 3 and also at the time decided to play around with RayDream as well, as by buying all 3 together I got a bundle offer.

The pipeline between Bryce and Poser has never been seamless, and once the programs were sold by Metacreations to different Companies there was really no chance that a seamless transition was going to happen.

However I have been using the export to OBJ and import into Bryce quite successfully since then, and although it may seem to be a bit of work, it has always worked well for me.

I haven't tried Poser 2014, as my Poser has not been updated so regularly as my Bryce, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work as well as previous versions, as long as you remember that purely Poser features, like the shaders generated by the material room, and also hair from the hair room will not transfer into Bryce. Dynamic cloth will, if you save your OBJ form the last frame of the animated drape.

@chohole: Thank you for your reply! Can I import something like weather effects via Bryce into Poser? Or does that only work with Daz Studio or Carrara?

I know of no way of taking anything from Bryce into Poser, have always worked the other way round. I never render in Poser, so am not sure what can be done with it as regards atmospherics, but as both Horo and I have said in your other thread, render in Bryce is the easiest solution.

DS, and Poser both need extra purchased Add-ons to get anywhere near what you can do natively in Bryce.

If you are using Poser, you might want to try Vue instead.
