Help with bikini!

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hi there,

I'm quite new to DS and am loving it so far. Although, I'm having some problems getting a desired effect with the string bikini for V6.
I'm practicing and trying to replicate the silver reflective Victoria 6 release image bikini. I'm wondering if someone could help me with replicating the effect that they got for her bra in the image I've attached. I just can't seem to get it reflective like in their render!!

Thanks!

When you are dealing with the surfaces, start with the Surface tab. As I don't know what you know, I'll start with basics. The Surface Selection Tool looks like three black pieces of paper and it's by the Universal Tool, above the viewport. Click on the surface of the bikini with that tool, go into Surfaces tab, and see what your Diffuse looks like. That is your main surface channel. By messing with the glossy in that, and any maps (photos, etc in the square box next to where you see your colors) it will change the main surface. The other channels (ambient, specular) input also, but if the diffuse isn't right, you won't get far. What exactly have you tried? People can help you better if they know where you're at in your attempts.

Thanks for your reply! Well, I've gotten this render so far, but I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the scene geometry?

Doubt its the geometry more likely surfaces settings and lighting what lighting are you using.
This is NeilV's basics tut on the surfaces tab.

If you want to see reflections, make sure there's something in the scene to reflect (could be objects located behind the camera).
