How to use GPU instead of CPU?

Been using this software for a few months now and I just bought a 2070 gpu. I guess I thought it just used it automatically, but it doesn't. In my task manager it still shows cpu 100% and now it has a section for gpu but that is always at 0% when rendering. How do I make daz use my gpu?

  • 1st  - what version of DS are you using?

2nd - did you checked the Iray render settings - advanced if your gpu is flagged for render?

You may need to run the Daz Studio 4.11 Beta to use that new card.

So as barbult suggested you need to download and install the beta version for render with the new rtx cards ;)

I'm using 4.12 and have the same issue : My 6 cores CPU goes very hot but the GPU doesn't seem to be much used (RTX 2070 Super). I check the temperatures in real-time with Speccy.

This is how I configured DAZ :

Edit/Preferences/Interface :  Per Pixel Shading ON / Hardware Anti-Aliasing ON / Display Optimisation Best / Pixel Buffer ON / Multi-Threading ON (though this is for the CPU cores only)

Nvidia Iray Shader chosen for the Viewport, Draw Settings : Post Denoise Filtering ON / Post Denoiser Enable ON / Post Denoiser Start Iteration : 1 / Post Denoiser Alpha ON

Don't see any clear option for a pure GPU (RTX) render like we get in VRay, Keyshot, etc.

Draw Settings is for preview, Render Settings if for render (and you choose what hardware to use in the Advanced tab). Currently if the GPUs all fail Iray will revert to the CPU even if it isn't checked, but the chnage log shows that in a future version we will be able to completely disable the CPU

  • in a future version we will be able to completely disable the CPU

As long as the scene can fit in the VRAM of course ;)
