This particualr promo image for Iray Storm by Kindred Arts made it into the "Art of the Promo" thread a few days ago.  I like showcasing good art purely for the sake of art.  And this is an awesome image.  Epic even.  But something looked familiar with it,  but couldn't place it.  Well KA added a higher resolution version with a lot more detail to that thread  and then while looking at the image again,  I recognized the phone poles and the trees and the caution signs and the road sign,  from my Rural CrossRoads environment.  Who knew?!   Still an awesome promo image.  That it used one of my sets.  Cooler still.

Thanks FB, it is indeed rural crossroads, i probably should have mentioned that in your other thread. Your sets are brilliant when you need scale or terrain, a lot of sets (including a few of my own) tend to be quite compressed, making scale difficult. Your sets are segmented too, which is great for kit-bashing. You can composite larger terrains easier too, i used your Gas station set for a volcano promo shot a while back (attached), which merged really easily with the back plate. Anyway, big fan of your sets, thank you for making them. smiley

Another Rural CrossRoads render spotted today in the new Releases promos by MartinJFrost.  He added a bunch of really nice vegetation Roadside Flowering Plants to the roadway and breathe new life into the scene.

Been a while since I posted a sighting. In the DAZ gallery there's this image by Maximilian W that notes the Layered Rock outcrops as the location for this unexpected Crash Landing.

Edit: can't find this gallery image though a goooogle search has a thumbnail of it.

Looks like eight months since the last sightings post, yet while perusing the new offering this morning, I noticed the Industrial Steel Iray shaders by Dimidrol, showcasing their shaders on my Ubiqutous Rooftops modelled ladders and decks. Everything old is new again. You gotta love shaders that breathe new life into older sets.

  • I saw this picture of the 1stBastionBuilding Police Station, on a kickstarter page for Alebrijes - A Detective Visual Novel by FenixPheonix. The story looks like it has some dark themes but the quality of the art is obvious.

5 months since the last posted sighting, must be semi retired or something.

Saw my lowpoly SUV getting some gas at the new Urban Gas Station by Muze. Given the current price of gas these days due to the pandemic, fill up that tank!

    Hi FirstBastion

I bought your new Long Stretch of Forested Road Add-On  https://www.daz3d.com/1stb-long-stretch-of-forested-road-add-on

And Upon manual install I noticed this item was in its own Environment folder and not included in your original environments folder.  there fore creating 2 environment  folders was this a planned way to install this product and The question I have is can I move it to the folder with all your other products under the original environments folder.

    Thank you

On a manual install, you can certainly place what's in the Environment folder anywhere in a MyLibrary folder,   but the data folders and the texture folder item must be in the correct respective folders or DS cant find the files.

It looks like the folder environment is missing an s

Mary aka memcneil70 posted her "passing dangerously" render set on the forested/deserted road. The mountainous backdrop give it an epic sized view and scope. Very cool. Always fun to see these renders on my commercial thread.

Saw this Elf inspired Garden Ruins by mtdana in the Daz Galleries,  using the broken bridge from the Walk Across Water set which is still part of my roads and paths bundle. Very cinematic image suggesting a larger story at work here.

That's beautiful! Does anyone know where to find that boat?

Ahhh One of 1971s! I should have guessed. It has that magical whimsy that so much of their work has. I really wish they'd sell at Daz3D. Thank you, xyer0!

Occassionally, PAs get notifications of Daz Gallery Images that indicate one of our products was used in a posted render. Well this epic in scope inspired image titled Innocence Lost by deathbycannon,  reimagines a section of an urban environment after the fall,  being re-absorbed by nature complete with a stream running through the middle. A game worthy bit ot Art.  Very cool.  Alway like seeing this level of kitbashing and reassembly. Epic environment.

That explains some of the comments I've received on my renders.

Yeah, it seems to not always work, but sometimes when people credit a PA's product on a gallery image the PA will get an email notification. I like getting those because it's always fun to see what people do with my products. :)

Yeah, deathbycannon's work is usually QUITE impressive! The attention to detail and composition and post-work all come together really well - she creates gorgeous images. Did you notice the doll in the mud in the foreground? I imagine that it might have belonged to the girl, when she was younger - now she's having to live in 100% survival mode. "Innocence Lost" - it got me in the feels!

Hi 1stB. We used a couple of your models for pivotal scenes in a 3D-animated music video that's just been released, here:

"If It Were My Dream" 3D-Animated Video

We used 1stBastion's Indie Scene Venue Bar (which I can't find anywhere on your "Vendor" page, btw), with two G8 characters, three G3 "girl singer" characters, and a gaggle of low-res people as the bartender and audience. We did kit-bash it a bit; I took a screen grab of the "back wall" of the main bar room, then put that on a large plane, and slid it toward the stage to cut the room size approximately in half so there weren't so many empty chairs and tables to try to fill up. With some lighting and a framed art hanging on the new faux "wall," and low-level lighting on the Lorettas and Lorenzos in the "audience," we were very happy with the way it came out.

We also used your Last Chance Gas Station as the main "outro"/credits scene at the end—to have the hero and heroine literally "ride off into the sunset," but on modern-day "horse" of a different kind.

We were going to have a whole scene with your 1stB Inland Marina, too, and a lot of work went into it, but ultimately all that ended up "on the cutting room floor," as happens frequently and painfully.

Thanks for the amazing creativity and functionality you have crafted with such care and attention to detail into all your works.

Thank you so much for posting and making a great video. Sweet song and really cool animated video.  It looks like you put a lot of hours into the development and production. And it looks great.  Good job on the kitbashing too. I like seeing those kinds of solutions. Very inventive. You put together a high production value look to the entire video. And I totally understand the cutting room floor out takes. Its unfortunate those happen,  but editing needs to focus on story. The good thing is you might be able to use the footage for some other video in the future. I gonna add a couple screen grabs from your video here is that's alright with you.

  • Finally the Daz Galleries are back.  Certainly missed the daily dose of artistic splendor.

Saw this postcard type Northern Autumn image by GMLAB  titled Ferry to the North with the Marina filling up the background. Some great late afternoon lighting going on too.
