Exporting to Smith Micro Products

I own both Manga Studio 5 and Motion Artist 1.1. Haven't used DAZ much so far as I'm working on a graphic novel. However when I discovered that Manga Studio can import figures from DAZ as a 3D material that you can manipulate - and apparently, complete with rigging, if you export in FBX format (see surfaceproartist's comment in that thread) I became much more interested.

I discovered today that I can also import Poser snapshots into MotionArtist provided that I can use a .PZ3 file. Does DAZ have the ability to export in that format (or have a plugin that will)?

No, DS won't export as a PZ3- the only Poser format it exports directly is CR2 (there's also a script to export pose files - pz2, fc2 and hd2).

edited to fix the extension of the format DS won't export.

    Nope a pz3 isn't a cr2. I think it was just a slip of the fingers and I'm sure Richard meant .pz3

Yeah, I make mistakes like that too. Ah, OK. I might suggest over at the MotionArtist Forum that they add options to import DAZ as well. It'd benefit both programs I'm sure.

    Sorry, fixed my typo now.

Have just suggested on the MotionArtist forums that they add the ability to import .CR2 files. That'd [probably be the easiest way of getting around this.

MotionArtist does import Poser files into a snapshot dialog where you take snapshots or still (png) images of it to use in MotionArtist. The benefit of using Poser files is you can scrub through the frames if there is animation in the poser file. it does not host the poser file in the project in anyway. You rotate the poser figure around and take snapshots.

If you are using Daz Studio, you could try exporting your character as an obj and taking snapshots of the obj in MotionArtist.
It will take snapshots of OBJ files as well.

    Regards,
    Jason
