You could simply load the .duf preset and use File>Save as>Deprecated to create a legacy format preset. You could also have a look at the sample scripts in the documentation on preset saving and work from one of those, perhaps http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/start , though I suspect they will be more help in the other direction (.dsa to .duf).
I have some older Easy Environment sets (like https://www.daz3d.com/easy-environments-mountain-trail) that only came in .pp2 and .dsa formats. Now that my workflow might be switching to the Daz content tree more, I'd like to keep older and newer sets together and file them all under the Daz content folder. However, it looks like those need to be in .duf format to be accessible from there. Is there a relatively easy way for me to convert those to .duf?
.dsa should show in the Daz Studio Formats list, it's a native script file. .pp2 is Poser format and won't, though a script could load it; you could use categories to have a mixed format list all in one place.
They don't. That particular series of products from that time period actually load from the poser tab. I was just hoping to keep them all in one spot rather than half in poser and half in daz. All the post-iray era sets split, so can be found in either library. But ... if it can't be done, it can't be done. I'll just add a note to the folder reminding me to also look in the other location when setting up scenes. Thanks :)
Well, the ,dsa won't show if it is in the Poser library - but in general they wil, if in a DS content directory and not in a hidden folder like Runtime. You could try moving the script and the Poser file to a DS content directory folder - depending on what the script does and how it may work there (if the poser file is one that loads an object - cr2, hr2, pp2 - if the object-loading Poser file lacks a .dsa then it requires more fiddling).
It does ... Flipmode thought the same thing until he investigated further to find daz had indeed manipulated the dsa files to load in the poser runtime folder. And simply copying them to the daz library doesn't work. I tried. He said something about it just a materials adaptation added to the poser base pp2 version. Way above my head, lol.
What you are referring to is called a companion script.
One of my friends has the Oasis set, so converting it to DSON is pretty easy to do.
Start with an empty scene in DS, load the PP2 that has both the scene and skybox in it.
Once loaded go File > Save As > Support Asset > Scene Asset(s)
A save window will open, give the file a name and then decide where to save the DUF.
Another window will open after the last one closes, this is the asset ID setup, just change the "Product" to match the scene's name.
After DS does it's thing you will find a DUF scene file where you saved it, a sub folder that contains the individual props as DUF files, and if you check the data folder you will find a folder with your user ID on it, inside it you will find sub folders with the DSF files for all the props.
