Which files do I download from Daz3d?
 I haven't even started with 3d modeling yet, but I want to make sure my library is in shape. Better start now rather than try to fix it later.
I have Poser 9, Daz Studio 4.6 Pro, and I plan to use Carrara, Hexagon and Bryce 7 - at least to play with. I use Windows 7 Home Pro, updated fairly often.
But to start with, I have a confusing mess of different file formats available from Daz3d. There are EXEs, ZIPs and files that show no extension on the download page but end up as ZIPs - but larger.
It's apparent that there's some duplication, and I know that the installer files are being phased out.
Which files should I download, and how do I build my library? I'm hoping that Poser or DazStudio (in these later versions) have some good consistent way of installing purchased products, but I also see library applications around - free and for sale. Is it even possible to build one content library to use with multiple programs, or must I keep everything separate?

Yup OK, that is an older product that has yet to be updated to the new zip format for the DIM installation.
You can ignore the zips in those ones, they are for Macs
What you need are the 3 .exe files. Each has part of the whole product. they are installers.
You can run the installers to your Poser runtime. You can then direct DS to your Poser runtime to find them. Carrara will read Poser files. Bryce you can either send them to Bryce using the bridge in DS, or you can export an obj from Poser, but that requires more setting up in Bryce, although it is the way I prefer to work.
I don't think so, that top line without the exe/zip at the end of the name, that's the DIM-compatible download — it has the green button on it.
So the top file is the only one I need, the others are just duplicates in other formats?
The top files is the only one you need if you are either using DIM to download or install, or are happy using a zip file. As you can see it is a lot larger than the others, so includes all the content that is included in the 3 installers.
You will find, if you use this one as a manual download, that it has a "Content" folder. If you want to set this up as working with all the software that you list you should then run this one to a dummy or temp unzip folder, and then just move the included runtime from within the Content folder to your Poser and merge the runtimes using drag and drop
It is not fully converted yet, which is why you still have the option to use the installers.
Thanks. All this library stuff is so confusing.
