Property Editor Crashing DS 4.6

Up until about 2 weeks ago I never had this problem. But now I can't seem to get around it. I haven't installed any new content or plugins in months, so I don't that has anything to do with it.

Basically I load up the property editor and wait for it to refresh, after it is done refreshing I click on my character and BAM it crashes DS. This is happening to G2F as well as Genesis.

there was a tip in this thread http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24288/ that I tried, which was removing a folder temporarily but it did not resolve anything.

Currently I'm stuck and can't move forward on a project so any help is appreciated. Would be nice if software was more reliable though...I haven't changed anything on my end so I can't understand why this tool suddenly stopped working.

    thanks

read it, did not seem conclusive, anyone have the cliffs notes version? I tried to read it all but it is as usual very back and forth. Poster tries this, it failed, poster tried that, it failed!

    So what works?

Oh btw I will never use DIM. If DIM becomes the only way to use the software properly, I will completely stop using DS.

Well the best answer they provided was to install the beta [which I'm not] because they've revamped the whole thing.
It clogs up and crashes the program if/when there are too many morphs and rigs, etc in it.

    Hot-swapping content directories works. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28510/

thanks all will try tommorow its 3 hours past my bedtime and I could not get a simple portriat render done tonight. I'll try again tommorow but I think I'm just going to quit this whole DS BS and focus on other things. I'm tired of plugins/content and the core software failing so easily.

    Thanks again.

Thanks, I'll have to try that.

    ....

hmmm ... well maybe again later. I must have missed a step somewhere ... the changes aren't happening.
Also ... I just changed the names of the "Morph" folder and that worked. Gen2 loads a lot faster with no morphs lol ...

I'm sorry about this Lars. You will be missed. Since upgrading I get crashes when using morphs to adjust hair, make characters smile etc. Files are laggy and slow. I understand and sympathize with your frustration.

DIM is only required to use the DAZ Studio Beta. As explained in the beta thread this is because the beta is installed side by side with the release version. It is too difficult to do this with bitrock installers, and the potential for screwing up an existing installation of studio is too high, thus DIM only. The General Release of DAZ Studio will be available with DIM and with Bitrock installers.

Sorry to hear you are having issues :( I'll be around for at least a little bit since my PC doesn't end till Feb. I don't visit too much these days since I stopped buying stuff but I'll probably stop in once in a blue. Good luck with your issues!

DIM is only required to use the DAZ Studio Beta.

Thanks for explaining. I dont spend time reading threads here so I don't know whats going on frankly. Most threads are time sinks that just go in circles so I'm sure you could understand why I don't invest time reading anything.

@SY I was able to get past the issue so thanks for the tips.

Did someone try with beta already? unfortunately as for me, It can not improve loading time.

I can not confirm, it must work, but removing most of properties
should be the minimum requirements to work with PE

I have used beta already . but when I work with property editor, I need most of product and basic morprhs should be removed,
and which I have made too.. after that, it take 10 miniutes more to load properties, but it can load
wihout clush and shut down DS.

And actually it has been only way for me to use PE after daz version up Genesis starter essentials.

I need to mention clear, though it still need to take 10 miniutes or 20 miinutes, without removing many properties,
I can not use PE at all in ds 4.6 Pro and beta.

you can choice several way, I preserve most of vendor and my morphs by another directory,
then hide it by directory manager when using property editor.

the problem is, when manage products with DIM, I need to change directory often.
it will cause another problem easy.

Richard suggest, making different directory which compose clean another genesis and basic morphs only, then move
some properties to the directory which you use for the work, when work with PE.

DAZ_jared suggest, use DIM to uninsall morphs when you use property editor.

these three way are same meaning. they are all for reduce counts of property (of course,
you may better remove property which have many ERC sub components,(eg expression controller etc)

Before, I did not need to remove Evolution morph sets, but if I keep them,
it take many times to loading.

Then , DAZ jared said about the new Property editor of beta , and Richard said too.
but is there any clear difference (eg name, or appearance?) ?

it is only about edit mode in parameter tab?

or I need tweak workspace customize (arrange Action) to visible the new PE tool?
because,, you suggest to use beta,,
then some user may simply believe, if install beta, it can remove property editor problem,
but I do not think so at current.
