BitRock woes

I got a copy of 8.5 pro for my Mac and both it and the C8 content loaded fine. I don't really need most of the other content, it just seems superfluous. When I go to install specific Carrara content, (Carrara Skies Vol 1), or any other BitRock installer, I get the following: "Error creating directory/ resources" and the install comes to a screeching halt.

I'm running 10.8.5, and I have never seen an installer that hangs up this badly.
