here is some try
first, i inoticed the "transparency" on Daz is REVERSE than the original picture i created
due to fail to create "holes" i do the reverse, the holes is not transparent, but the rest of the pic
i create binno with photoshop (and save as png)
i use it on a flat plane
i parent the panel to a camera, (and with no parent to camera result is the same)
the tranparency work, but binnocular shape become rectangle !!!
pictures story
pic 1 created in photoshp
pic 2 aply on a flat panel (to opacity)
pic 3 is "RENDER" result
pic 4 render via camera
That is odd - please, if you are willing, post the mask image here so others can give it a try.
that is the image, created in photoshop
loaded at the flat plane iin the transparency slot
Note:
transparency is reversed
Iray AUX preview
in the AUX preview i can see the "outline" of the round
but transparency are squared
i think i found something,,
using the original pic (not reverse transparency),
- in the layer editor i use the "INVERT" (negate)
the result is,
in perspective preview TEXTURE SHADED show incorrect, (totaly black plane)
when i use Nvidia IRAY preview in main window the binnocular show correctly as it must be !
basicaly it work, even if the use is a litle bit strange
1. Why to use (INVERT negate)
2. something wrong in all preview mode, only work when NVidia Iray preview is in use
Note:
if you want to move the post, feel free to move it where it must be
It's the PNG, or rather the alpha. Try using a JPG instead.
transparency with "JPG" ????
You don't want a transparency layer in the image.
The Opacity Map makes everying black be invisible and everything white be visible with shades of gray in between "fading" between the two extremes. Using texture files with transparency layers in them is only likely to confuse the rendering engine.
For your purpose, you could have a JPG image of a white rectangle with black outlines of the binoculars and use that as your Opacity Map. Then just set the base color of the plane to black and you'll get the type of outline you're looking for.
i do it with jpg,
it works
note:
all tutorial about transparency found on the net are based on png
I don't think it matters whether you use a png or a jpg. But if you use a png, none of the mask should itself be transparent - it should be a black (0% opacity) binocular shape on a white (100% opacity) background. It's the transparency in your mask which is confusing Daz.
i agree,
my problem was based on "false and obsolete" information found on the internet
lookin to insert some planes with transparency for diverses uses like a "fake" tree or a house view by a window
nowhere found the info about white / black use in transparency
i got the idea to use a "keyhole" for a thief view inside a room before entry in
my idea was to create a wall with specific "hole" and not only, now i have the knowledge how to create a wall and place a door or a window
who knows, maybe someone got a fresh tuto about those new found (new found for me)
thanks all for your help on my search about "how to" usefull for me
just to note the problem about transparency png under any mode preview except NVidia Iray perpective preview
- it's also the case with some clothes
