Problems with search and installing stuff (current example Urban Sprawl 2)

Hello,

I have frequently been having a hard time using the "search" function in DAZ, returning no results for stuff I know I have. For example, I recently installed Stone Mason's Urban Sprawl 2 (big city) and I cannot find it at all!

It has DAZ installers, but I am at a complete loss about accessing it. Does anyone know how to use this in DAZ =_= I've spent the last 30 minutes solid looking for it.

Are you talking about the content manager search? I find that as well and I don't know the secret. I can just offer sympathy. Most of Stonemason's stuff is under Stonemason, under figures or props in the Poser section. It comes up for me if I just put in "urban". I think you have to keep the searches as simple as possible. I've used my Windows system search with better results sometimes, or I go find the readme for the location.

Content Library Tab>DAZ Studio Format>My (DZAZ 3D) Library>Props>StoneMason>UrbanSprawl2. All my DAZ Versions of SET's are in the StoneMason folder if just a Set.

    Greetings,
Yeah...I've been thinking about building my own mini-search system for it (the metadata is in nice XML files already; tying it into sphinx or similar should be straightforward) because CMS keeps crapping out on me anyway.

What I really want (or want to build) is non-CMS-based search, so that I don't have to rely on Valentina or the CMS processes which seem to asplode when you exhale particularly energetically...

My Content Library ->Products -> U only contains things like the Udine Hair, etc, no Urban Sprawl.

As for my Content Library Tab>DAZ Studio Format>My (DZAZ 3D) Library>Props I do not have a Stone Mason / Urban Sprawl

It's not in my generic "my library" props either : /

That tells me one of two things, the content is not installed properly, or your Content Paths in DAZ Studio are not set up properly. How was UrbanSprawl2 installed? Second WHICH Version of DAZ Studio are you using? I checked and you do not say. If this info and a screen capture of your Content Directory Manager with all paths expanded we can get you fixed I believe.

I don't have this product, but I've got some ideas.

How did you install it? If by chance you used DIM, hover over the product in the Installed tab and look at the bottom of the grey info window for an Installed To tag. You can also check the Show Details box at the bottom right and select the product to view the details.

If you used an older *.exe installer, if you left the installer to install to the default location, there's a chance it's in the old My Documents > Daz > Content folder (something like that, I don't remember the exact location from when it was called "content").

Another option is that you installed the Poser installer, but not the Daz installer. In which case check in Content Library > Poser format > (Library) > Props.

I used installers, I had it installed on an old system, I'm moving some files I missed a while back.

In your viewport tools just to the right of your viewing angle dropdown, there's a drop down that lets you change the texture mode. Yours seems to be on wire bounding box. Change it to texture shaded and you'll be good.
