some of you know me many of you don't , for a little over 2 years now I have been modeling in hexagon .
I feel that my skills have gotten to a level where I could open a merchants account on one of the lesser sites
what I need to know is this , would you buy these as props or figures and if so what else would you like to see as part of the package.

please do not be afraid to voice your opinion , even if its only to tell me thatr they suck

Wow, well they definitely don't suck. I'm a sucker for anything SteamPunk, which I take it these fit that category? They are definitely good enough to sell, IMO. Just know that the genre is very niche, and that is why many vendors shy away from it. But, if this is your skill level, then I don't think you will have much problem producing items from other genres as well.

As far as what you might add, make "packs". For example, the phone might be part of a SteamPunk communications pack, or the gun part of a weapons pack. Single items might do okay, but if you want to push a buyer off the fence, we really like packs. It gives more options for the buck.

Good luck to you, and don't "go to one of the lesser sites". Go where you feel you will be best received, not putting a merit on a particular site. I think you could sell these at DAZ, personally. But then, I'm a new vendor myself, so take that as you will.

    *blinks*

I don't see anything about either one of those models that says "lesser site." They both look first-rate, and they're both unique.

You've got a sense of style, you've got technique...a QA team (such as DAZ's, hint hint) might have some suggestions on your mesh optimization, but nothing I can see as a consumer.

I'd buy that phone in a heartbeat and I like the gun, but I rarely do scenes involving weapons. Still, it's a very nice piece of work.

Both look good, they could easily be part of a steampunk props set. If you can get them set up to load and work as smart props in either or both Poser and DAZ Studio for V4,M4,Genesis, they'd be a good first set. Now SteamPunk is a bit of a niche market, but these may appeal to customers. No reason to not consider submitting to DAZ versus a "smaller site" You'll need quality promo images showing these props in action to submit to DAZ. Take the plunge, get your foot in the door if you can.

I don't know that I would class other sites as "lesser", I think they just appeal to different markets and perhaps have less sales, depending on what they are selling. Looking at the items these look interesting, I would certainly consider them. I really like the style. Personally I'm not a fan of the red on the gun, so what would make the item more appealing to me is if there were material zones that would facilitate the use of shaders.

Well, I probably wouldn't buy these exact items, since I don't really do a lot of steampunk stuff.

But would I generally buy items of that quality? Hell, yeah!

Beautiful work. Excellent hard surface modeling.
If you get these together in a nice well rounded set or a small prop release, I bet you could submit them for consideration here at DAZ.

    Best wishes and good luck!

Nicely made. Including poses so people can pose them easier, will increase the chances they would sell.

I'd definitely be interested in both of these and more like them.

The phone might be a bit niche as it pretty much only fits a steampunk style. The gun could fit either steampunk or classic 30'-50's SciFi style so it might have a wider appeal.

As was mentioned earlier having a wide variety of mat zones to allow people to retexture would make them appeal to more people. For example, I'd change the red in the stock, grip and the part on the back top (sight?) to be a nice wood texture. I think I'd change most of the red on the front to use the metalized glass shaders from Age of Armor and maybe some of it to use various metal shaders. If you made each of those red sections a different mat zone then I could customize it for a lot of different renders making me more likely to buy it.

If you could come up with some other stuff to go with the phone on say a utility belt type of thing that would have a lot of appeal as well.

A matching pistol for the rifle would be nice as well. Maybe some other weapons and accessories for those as well and you've got a decent SciFi/Steampunk weapons pack.

I firmly believe that color plays a huge role in how we perceive items.
change the colors change the feel .
with a simple change of colors we can go from steampunk to retro sci fi

...very nice work and yes the quality totally sells me.

While I do some Stemapunk work, I love retro sci-fi (particularly from 1950- 60s).

I like the phone in the more "sci fi" look and agree the Metalised Glass Shaders on the "business end" of the rifle would make it look really nice.

You're a great modeler with a nice attention to detail, I'd pay.

Like I said, package those up with maybe a couple of different material options and make sure that you have a lot of different mat zones for people like me to tinker with and I'd buy stuff of that style and quality pretty quickly.

Value-added stuff that makes them really easy to use!

    - Hand poses.
    - Smart prop versions.
    - Victoria/Michael/Genesis poses
    - UV Templates

But most of all, make sure that the quality of any 'extras' is as good as the quality of your models!
