Just curious to see how many artists out there are turning a profit from their renders. Is this a hobby for you or is it a job?

For me, it's just a hobby, but I wouldn't mind selling a poster or two.

It's a hobby, although it makes money. This is one of the easiest hobbies to make money with. I started a webcomic with my Poser figures in 2008 and by 2010 it was generating enough to completely pay for my Content purchases which were over $10,000 for the year and still leave me with around $4,000 in profits. I couldn't quit my job but it's nice to have a hobby that pays for itself. You don't even have to have a comic, you can use wordpress to set up a 3D gallery and just post pictures on a regular schedule and eventually you should be generating revenue from ads and links to Daz and Renderosity.

Oh, and the Millennium Cow is the first sign of the Apocowlypse.

Just a hobby for me. I'm retired from a very unartistic profession, and I like the peace and quiet. I've spent more time and money than I might have to help a friend with illustrations. For me, this form of art is very satisfying, with no paint blobs in my hair or tracked on the floor, LOL! Do I think it could become a paying hobby? Well, I'd done b/w photography, and jewelry. In no way did I ever recoup my costs, not even counting the hours. I'm sure it would be the same here. It's all done for the love or fun of it.
