Help! Clothing problems

So, I admit that I am 100% new to try DAZ 3D on the creation side. I've used DAZ3D and found the documentation for the software absolutely useless at times. I've read Les Pardew's book on DAZ - but it was honestly a waste of money because it showed what could be done without actually showing you how to do it. Also, I can never seem to find advice on the problems as I'm facing them.

With that said, here's my latest problem. I created a dress using Dress Shop. Finally, got the sucker imported into DAZ as a .obj and on my genesis character. Woo Hoo!

However, when I attempted to apply a texture I end up with a blue dress that has no texture (first picture). On the flipside, I can apply the texture I'm interested in to the genesis avatar. I'm clearly missing something here and I, for the life of me, cannot figure it out. I don't know if DAZ is really that impossible to learn or if I'm over complicating something, but I just feel really frustrated at the moment.

Thanks for your help,

Jason

I don't have 'Dress Shop' but do some modeling. Your .obj needs to be uvmapped before importing it into D/S [unless there's some new feature I've missed that'll do that].

As Patience says, the dress doesn't have a UV. You would need a program like UV Mapper Classic (which is free) to make one.

    Jason,

Have you watched the videos? Strictly speaking you don't need a separate UV program, because dress shop lets you create separate areas for texturing. the rotation can be off though.

Try this: import an item from dress shop, with out Genesis in the scene, and try to texture it.
