I am sure i am DIM

I am pretty sure that somehow i have managed to get my content into something of a mess. I tend to download things manually so that i can place them into locations that i can find easily. I do also use the DIM, which having initially just went ahead and downloaded stuff without reading the instructions caused me some trouble.
Anyway point is that i know for sure that somethings are not working as they should, and that this is most likely my own fault. What i would like to do is start afresh. That is remove all my content and install it all using the DIM, in that way i can be certain that everything i have will be sure to work.
Right now i am relatively comfortable with most things, but as an example, i cannot seem to make use of smart content, i keep getting the message on the screen shot.
For your information i am a Mac user. Version 10.8.5 and have DS4.6.0.18 Pro 64 bit.
Question is what is the best way for me to first remove all the content, then set up DIM in the best way, and having done both those things, i assume simply letting DIM do the work is the way to go.

That usually means that you are missing one directory in DAZ Studio content setup. I can make a screenshot if you don't know where that is.

That would be great if you could please
