HD Add-ons how to mix and export

Hi everyone,

Couple of questions regarding HD Add-on workflow...

First question is about mixing. If I were to purchase Valdimir and Darius, and then blend them together, 50% each... can I then apply the Vladimir HD Add-on to the result? And if so, will there be any artefacts/issues?

Secondly I want to ask about exporting. I plan to do my posing/rendering in C4D, so I was wondering if it's possible to export Vladimir (or my Valdimir/Darius hybrid) in an FBX with the HD add-on applied. How is the extra "HD" detail stored? Is it more detailed geometry, better normal maps/textures, or better blendshapes/morph targets? Or a combination of all of these?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • HD morphs work like any others, though given the nature of the fine detail they are used for they may not mix harmoniously.

Since the FBX will have only the SD mesh it won't, and possibly can't, carry HD. if C4D supports multi-resolution morphs (or blend shapes or whatever) then you may by able to export an OBJ of the HD moprh applied, then load it in C4D and generate a morph - I do not, however, have any idea as to whether that is actually possible or how it would be done if it was.

  • Ok thanks!
