eyes render out half-baked

Hey guys,

Quick sanity check please.

Daz Studio 4.10, Pepper for G8 with Iray eyes and lipstick applied. No matter the rendering settings I only get marginal improvement when it comes to rendering out the eyes - they keep looking unfinished. Startting with default, I have increased the following render settings and still getting the result below. Max time = 2,800 (4 times the default), rend quality = 2.0, converged ratio = 97%. Is there something specific I can tweak in order to have the eyes render out completely?

Thanks!

  • The problem is that the Converged Ratio refers to the pecentage of pixels that are deemed to be converged ("done"). The eyes are a very small part of the image, and since they take much longer to converge than the rest they are always likely to be incomplete in a full render. You could do a spot render of just the eyes - if you set it to go to a New Window in Tool Settings then you can easily drop the result on top of the main render. You could also try using the new denoiser in the DS 4.11 Public beta (as long as the scene fits into your GPU's memory).

  • Thanks for the tips, Richard!
