How do I make install manager behave with multiple runtimes?

Ok, I did a forum search and am not finding the answer easily, and it's driving me nuts...

How to I tell Install Manager which of my multiple runtimes to install content to, because I'm obviously missing something. 

I've tried setting specific runtimes using the gear symbol -> Installation -> Manifest archive... no go. the packages still install to a default daz folder that I don't even point my install to. 

And for some reason which completly escapes me, when I download the zips to just install manually, the packages are in an additional layer folder, which means I have to either RE-ZIP to unpack, or just move folders where they need to go manually. 

 

Somebody please save me from this misery. How to I make Install Manager work with multiple runtimes?

Are you sure you used the drop down at the bottom of DIM and changed it to the location of the runtime you want to save to?

On the Ready to Install pane have the Show Details box checked.
