Transferring Library to External Hard Drive

Okay, here's the thing. I recently decided to transfer my library to an external hard drive. And I'm currently in the process of sorting out various issues that go along with such a transfer. However...I'm running into some problems.
Adding the new directories to my Content Library was easy enough. However, I don't know how to reassign Smart Content to work with the library in the external hard drive. Also, there's the issue of scenes I haven't rendered, etc. Will I still be able to render those files after the transfer, or will I have to undergo some arduous process if for some reason I want to revisit my older files or whatever?

Smart Content should be using relative paths - the location of the files within the content directory - so if that has stayed constant you should not need to do anything. Files that were not in a content diectory, however, will have been stored with absolute paths (starting from the drive letter/name).
Uh, okay. Let me see if I've got this straight. As long as the content is located in a content directory that DAZ Studio is reading, then it will show up in Smart Content?
Also, any chance I can get instructions on how to get DIM to send my new assets to my external hard drive?
Yes.
Click the gear icon to open settings, go to the Installation tab, click the + button to add a new path. Give the path a name, click the ... to select the base folder (the content directory, the folder set in DS). At the bottom of the tab use the Current drop-down to select the new location.
