Problem with illumination

Hi everyone, first of all sorry if my english isn't perfect, it isn't my main language.

Here is the problem:

I'm new with the program, and everything was perfect auntil I activated "something" that made everything too bright.

On the upper right corner you can see a preview on Iray, I just added a 1000 lumen spotlight. 

Sorry to bother you guys, but I really dont know what to do D:

I have Auto Headlamp option set in Never.

  • Check the settings under "Tone Mapping" in the Render Settings tab. The default value for Exposure Value is 13, if it's much lower than this (lower values = greater sensitivity to light) you could get this over-exposed effect.

  • Yeah, and to add on to what Chris mentions with the exposure value, another thing to try and adjust would be the F stop in the tone mapping tab as well. If it's too bright for me, I usually double the F stop. 

    Another question I would have is do you have the environment set to dome and scene or just scene? If you have the dome on, with a lower exposure value and low F stop, that spotlight could blow out the image like that.

  • Exposure value encompasses shutter speed, aperture (F stop) and film sensitivity (ISO). In a real life camera, you set those three things and calculate the resulting EV. In Daz you can set the EV you want and it adjusts the other values (well, it adjusts the shutter speed) accordingly.

    In real life cameras, shutter speed, aperture and sensitivity changes all have their own (usually) undesirable side-effects and are subject to physical limitations - so you have to balance them quite carefully. In Daz none of that applies - you can, for example, make the shutter speed a hour long if you like, you still won't get any motion blur or camera shake, and your model(s) will not tire of holding their pose(s). So pick the one parameter that makes most sense to you and adjust that - there's no point in changing all of them.
