Spot renders broken? They should be faster than full screen renders right?

My full screen IRAY render took 25 minutes to achieve 87 convergence.
My spot render which covers only the characters face, which is relatively small compared to the entire full screen, took 22 minutes to achieve 87 convergence.
The spot render only saved 3 minutes? I might as well just render the full screen.
Something is wrong.

GOOD NEWS!!
This thread explained the problem: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/151801/spot-render-tool-isn-t-faster-than-full-render-solved#latest
How to fix slow IRAY spot renders:
1. Switch viewport to any mode except IRAY.
2. Do your spot render again and it should go roughly 10 times as fast.
COMPARISON
- If Viewport is set to IRAY, my IRAY spot render of the characters face took 22 minutes to reach 87 convergence.
- When I switched the viewport to anything except IRAY, my IRAY spot render of the characters face only took 3 minutes to reach 87 convergence.
- (Keep in mind I set spot render settings to NEW WINDOW, so the spot render gets created in a new window with the proper dimensions specified in render settings)
22 minutes vs 3 minutes. This is a HUGE and MAJOR bug. How do we inform DAZ Studio of this?
It isn't a bug, it's the expected behaviour when you start a full render while also having a preview render open.
How is making a spot render 8 times slower expected behavior and not a bug?
If you want an IRAY preview in the viewport, set viewport to IRAY.
If you want to do a full screen render, sure leave viewport set to IRAY.
However, if you want to do an IRAY spot render that renders to a new window, you need to set the viewport to anything except IRAY or else your IRAY spot render in the new window will be roughly 8 times slower.
Test it for yourself. The bug was not noly reproduced by me, but another user.
Viewport set to IRAY = IRAY spot render took 22 minutes to reach 87 convergence in new window.
Viewport set to texture shaded = Same IRAY spot render took 3 minutes to reach 87 converagence in new window.
It's not a bug if it's the expected behaviour - I'm not sure but I think the different is down to its being two renders. Even if it was a bug it would hardly be a major one, there's an easy workaround and no data is in danger of being lost. I would, however, be interested in the speed you get in the full render with preview off and preview on.
I'll test that next time around.
