I don't know about that, if you look on the first page of this thread, it says they've been updated. I think someone said that the manual download had the wrong zip attached to it and it should be a newer one than what's there.
We just need some clarification.
CHEERS!
...before I bugger anything up I think I'll wait as well.
The Genesis 2 Starter Essentials got updated on 10-1-2013. I'll be sure and make a post in this thread and in the Genesis & Genesis 2 Updated products thread when the manual downloads are updated.
...thanks. I'll DL and instal tomorrow.
I think you can only get the updated Gen2F Essentails files with DIM ... the manual download via Store / Product library is still not fixed.
That was the impression I got too.
CHEERS!
The Store's Product Library and the DAZ Install Manager use the same services to provide files. If it's update in one place, it's updated in the other. I just re-downloaded the "Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials" package through DIM and through Product Library. They provided the exact same zip.
Right, so, are they the up to date ones that were supposed to tie in with this release or do they still need replacing with ones that are up to date?
CHEERS!
The current zip is the updated one for this release.
Cool,
Downloading it right now.
CHEERS!
EDIT:
The files are dated for the 1st of July, is that the right date!? I thought the files would have been newer.
CHEERS!
There are two files involved in building the data for the file service; the downloadable file itself and a configuration file. In the case of the G2F starter essentials... the main zip is dated October 1st and the main configuration file is dated July 7th. Both PoserCF files are dated June 27th.
Not all the files in the packages have been edited... they will have whatever timestamp they were last edited.

Not all of the files were updated, in fact only a handful were.
I just had a look through the zip and couldn't find anything dated later than 01/072013. If that's the latest then that's all fine and dandy and I have installed those files.
CHEERS!
...interesting, I should have received the update then in the DIM but didn't see one.
There should be changed files in "data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Projection Templates". There should be files in the zip with dates listed as "10/1/2013"
...DL'd the manual installer and I see that. I wonder why the DIM version hasn't been updated yet?

He's right. Kyoto Kid, the files WERE updated for DIM. I installed the G2 Essentials a couple days ago already and this is a capture of the Projection Templates folder.

...so I wonder why I didn't see the updated version in the DIM? The original version is showing in the Installed Content tab. Strange.
Well with all the techs swirling around in here my query seems ignored. Any reason? Bug report submitted but if anyone else is experiencing crashes using the ERC Freeze tool I'd like your input or a tech's input about what may be causing this.
My friend Mec4D over at Hivewire says that she's experienced crashes too and thinks that it's calculating allot around the morphs it's finding so my only other thing to try is to take most of the morphs out that are not mine and try to get it done and then put them all back in and load a new copy of the mesh.
Does this seem like a plausible solution or no?

If I might suggest trying the workflow with a Genesis character? If there's a hardware or software problem on the computer with ERC freeze, it would be repeatable with any character.

Yes if you could reproduce the issue with Genesis or Genesis 2 Female it would help narrow down whether the issue is ERC Freeze in general or only with particular content.
Yup, crashes with saving out a morph that needed rig adjustment and ERC freeze for Genesis 01. Just tried it. I do remember this being an issue for a while now come to think of it but iirc correctly that's one of the reasons why I avoided the Properties Editor as it would crash out DAZ Studio when doing an ERC freeze from there. Now it's crashing just using the tool itself. I created a shortcut in the slide out menu in the Joint Editor pane. All in all this is very bad. I don't know if my issue is isolated or if others are having this issue and are just simply finding work arounds for it but I really think this needs to be looked into!
I've added a note to my bug report and uploaded the saved zip with the crash info for the Genesis 01 ERC Freeze crash.
I remember an old bug where Property Editor would crash if you had the pane undocked, but it would work OK when docked. Maybe try docking the pane if you have it undocked.
It's docked, so that out. I wish it were that easily resolved, man do I wish!
Hmm ... they have made a few changes to that Property editor gadget, yes. I tried to do some work with it ... okay I can get nice coloured bars, wonderful. Did not crash once. Genesis 1, tons of morphs, rigging, whatever, parameter list WAAAAYYYY off page. That makes the list rather useless in itself. However providing one does know which Parameter heading they do want the morph under, one can at least type in that little box the information. [that means all the new morph releases do not need to be put under "actor" ty]
Okay.
So can colour bar.
Can Reposition bar.
Morph was a very simple thing to make Genesis "dollsize".
Bones needed to be matched to the geometry. Appeared to work. But only that it was now small figure with matching small skeleton. Whether or not the rigging was memorized; when the morph was drawn "out" to make Genesis proper size again, the rigging stayed small. Did not follow. There used to be an option to tell it to "follow". Where did that go please?
And how in blazes does one save the "morph with rigging" in a nice small shareable file?
Morph saves no problem ... but not with the matched rigging.
I'm missing a step or two ... one of the controller steps I thought needed to be done; appears to be impossible because the morph simply does not show up on one of those "lists" which scrolls from oldest installation to present day except it appears to be full. [that might be why Mec4D was suggesting morphs be deleted from folder] Morphs installed a few days ago are there ... but not todays. A sorting method/search method and/or typing method, come 'on ... D/S was closed many times. Hmm ... might have to check the CS but anyhow ...
while trying to find the new workflow, I imagined the office over there is probably having fits of laughter ever time they release a new edition of D/S and taking bets how long it will take their customers to figure out how to do anything with their program ... so hours before they succeed the next edition is released ... driving us nuts with lack of sleep waiting for items to go on sale at great bargain prices. A little mercy please. Not asking the pointless question for a complete manual ... a point form list would be fine. PM it to me if you want to. Thank you.
Scenario: Genesis
Morph created that requires the bones moved to match the geometry.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Step 7
Step 8
Step 9
Step 10
Step 11
Step 12
I can do this now 'cause they're calling me a DazAddict.
Somebody made this program ... somebody has to know how it works ... please share the knowledge!!!!
In the meantime, I'd appreciate any knowledgeable answers, tia.

The Projection Templates have the same dates ie 2013/10/01 in the manual zip. So, it would appear that we all have the same files and that they are up to date. End of.
CHEERS!
ERC Freeze crashes DS for me too, regardless if I start it from Property Hierarchy or Parameters Tab in edit mode. Submitted ticket with error reports.
the 3Delight optimization window ground to a halt several times optimizing images for me on projects I had rendered in 3Delight in a number of legacy versions. I did not reboot the system but I did close out of Studio and reopen the projects. I noticed on the details it did not threw an error on a textured prop, I removed that prop and attempted to re-render without restarting the session and it threw the same error. I'm guessing optimization without refreshing texture lists uses the texture list from a cached state?
anyone else seeing a more than usual number of optimization issues?
What exactly is ERC Freeze and what would I have to be doing to need to use it!?
It's easy to forget that there are relative newbies around with no idea what may be in store for them should they wander off the beaten track.

ERC (Enhanced Remote Control) Freeze is an action that takes all the active properties on a figure and conects them to a control property. When finished a user can just dial the control property and the other dials will dial up too. This is used to move the rig around on extreme morphs, dial correctives when joints/morphs apply, etc, etc.
