Apply iRay Uber Shader to everything?

Hi,

I’m starting out and am looking at tutorials for DS and iRay. A lot of them tell you to make sure to apply the IRay Uber Base to all your objects.

Is this still needed or only for objects that are not setup for iRay by default? Lots of the tutorials are a few years old so I’m wondering how relevant this information still is?

And if this step is only needed for older objects that are not designed to work with iRay be default, how can I tell if that is the case?
