Render without lighting or with global ambient intensity?

Suppose I want to render cards for a game, or render the texture of an unwrapped 3D object, I don't want any shading. I just want an even global intensity on all pixels rendered. Is this possible? I'm not sure I'm describing this properly.

Don't know about IRay, but certainly possible with 3DL. Just load an UE2 light, set it to ambient mode and ambient color to white.
With Iray you could try an evenly lit, diffuse HDR.
I often use the "Winter Forest" for that purpose, it's a free set in the sIBL archives:
