zbrush size export problems

when a base g8 is imported into zbrush and exported as obj, (without any modeling done to the g8 base at all), the size is always changing so will not morph successfully-can anyone offer some advice thank you

How are you comparing sizes? DS allows any scale factor to be used in the export and import dialogues, with presets to help pick the right one - if you use mismatched presets then you are likely to end up with unwanted scaling (or change in orientation).

    Edited for typos

Using standard import/export daz settings, you usually need to add 2 zeros to the end of any percent when bringing files back from zbrush.  For example, without using presets , if you go from daz to zbrush and then zbrush to max or marvelous designer or daz with morph, you need to change 100% scale to 10,000%.  You can use presets instead to have it do it for you, but I've had flipped axis issues using presets so I usually leave it all standard and just add the two zeros.

  • Just use the modo preset and you should be fine. There was an issue with axis handling, but as far as I recall it was fixed before the current release build.

thanks Richard, when i say size i mean the g8 base is around 1.9mb but when she exports from zbrush the size becomes larger like maybe 2.8 mb or 3 something, i wil show her your comments hopefully she will understand-ill let you know how it turned out-thanks again!

Did you keep it at base resolution or add subdivision? What did you do to the model in ZBrush? Does it show it has the same number of polygons at the export time as it did when you loaded it?

No Cris, she just imported the base g8 obj zeroed figure and then exported out of zbrush (as obj) and the size just changes from the original 1.9mb to around 3mb so it would not morph

Cris she did no change to the figure, I do understand that no verts can be deleted or added or sub d added in order for the morph to work

Ill ask her about the polygons -sorry to have replied in 3 seperate posts!

she has done as Richard has suggested, she imported the g8 base -1.9mb  then exported again, one was at 100% -1.8mb, the other was at 10000% 1.9mb-neither one will morph successfully

she also told me that the poly count was not changed at all-it is still the same as the original g8 base obj i sent her

Are you sure you don't have the eyelashes in there?

Pretty sure i didnt but i just made a new one to make sure-funny thing is this base exported at 2.55 mb-is that anything i should be worried about since it always has exported at around 1.9mb before?

it worked, i must have not been deleting them-thanks Richard

  • I deleted eyeslash and I have the same scaling problem  for morph ,that additional zeros I have to put it in daz or in zbrush to correct guys?
