How to covert older .daz files to .duf??

Hi All,

I have some older characters and scenes that I am trying to open in Studio 4.10, that are older .daz format files versus the newer .duf.

How do I convert these files? Studio tries to read the files than halfway through, it crashes hard.

Is there a script, or somewhere in Studio that I need to go first to convert the files? FYI, these are Genesis G1 files, etc..

Thanks.

  • Unless you have an older version of DS you can try to load them into, then save, I'm not sure what you can do. I think the SDK includes a version of DS 4.5.

Hey Richard, Thanks for the quick reply.

I actually do have the DAZStudio_4.5.0.114_Ma64.zip. So yes, I have it.

Can I just install it? Or would it not completely conflicvt with my current latest versikpon of Stsuio 4.10?

    A follow-up for Richard.

I installed 4.5 on a second computer. The older .daz file does indeed open there. In trying to re-save it though, it wants to save it as a .daz file again.

How do I direct it to save the scene as a .duf file? (FYI, on a Mac, if that matters.)

    Thanks.

  • I'm not sure, since I haven't tried, but ti should be possible to install it and either end up with a stand-alone or at least be able to switch between them by reinstalling. of course some plug-ins will not work with the old version, if it replaces the current, and probably most not suplied with the 4.5 version will not install to it if it's stand-alone. However, it's made for developers so it should be safe.

Nevermind, just figured it out. :-)

Long-story-short, opening in 4.5 is working. Then re-save as .duf. Move to new iMac. Open in Studio 4.10. Looks greart.

    Thanks, Richard!
