resetting the pivot point and angle

Is there an easy way to set the point an object pivots around to 0,0,0 along with the angle it is at? I have a wrist watch model is at an angle for the default of a figure -- I'd like to put it somewhere else... the same for single shoes...

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but you might want to try parenting to a null and then using the null (Create>New Null) to rotate the item.
I am new at using DAZ so I am probably way wrong but maybe what you are looking for is under, Tools> Joint Editor and move that little green thingy around until it rotates and pivots the way you want it to.
Try this...
Press SHIFT + Alt + J (acivates the Joint Editor ~ once known as the Bone Tool) with the object selected. Then, move the Green axis to a center point of the object (make sure all Translate Nodes (X,Y,Z) are set to 0. After that, go back to the Universal Tool (SHIFT + Alt + U) and your pivot point should be set to the middle or (near the middle) of the object. This works with anything (figures, props, etc...).
I don't advise moving the centre as you risk breaking the model in other respects (any poses it comes with, for example)
When I try moving the green axis, the object moves with it and i cannot recenter the pivot. How do you move the green axis without moving the object?
Thanks.
I wish I could help with that, as, ironically, I am having this very same issue trying to position a sock I've just applied dForce to. One way I was able to, sort of, solve this with other items is to zero everything out and try to apply the pivot trick I offered.
The correct answer is what Richard said above. Create a NULL object, place it where you want the pivot to be, then parent the object/model to the NULL. Now, whenever you move/adjust the null, the object follows. This is actually better/faster than using Groups in some cases, too, if you want to move or scale multiple objects and/or models.
