Not just her stockings

I should have been more comprehensive with the post about stockings, but that still stands. This relates to the frustrations of clothing V4 with no modifications made to the basic shape, that is as loaded from V4 and with only textures applied. I keep coming up with this and it seems to happen more and more. Loading some item of clothing, also a basic V4 item with no mods very often fails to work properly. It is often necessary to use the apply smoothing modifier, which often cures the problem but sometimes, as in the example here does not do so fully.
Time consuming and frustrating, again an answer would be appreciated please...
I hope the first image does not offend, she is mostly covered...

V4 clothing loaded onto a base V4 model should work without massive poke-through.

It is sometimes necessary to Transfer Active Morphs to the clothing if it does not fit a modified V4 shape correctly, but not an unmodified one.

What clothing item is this? And is it just the basic V4 loaded from the content library?

I thought that should be the case. V4 is basic loaded from content without any mods except to the head. The clothing is called raiver for V4 A4 elite. There is a saying that goes necessity is the mother on invention. Since posting i have had my DS education improved, in that i have discovered there is more to the smoothing modifier than is obvious. I have discovered smoothing iterations and collision items, which of course help greatly with adjusting clothing.
However the point is that this stuff should fit out of the box, its costs money to buy after all.

Loaded a V4 and the Raiver top, no problem. First question, did you "Fit to" on it if you didn't have V4 selected when you loaded it?

I had V4 selected so no. After it loaded and i saw the way it looked i tried fit to....
I did have a texture skin loaded to the original V4 but was careful not to modify this in any way

Which version of DAZ Studio, and did the PowerLoader load all V4 Morphs?
I guess there is something very basic missing here...

Only thing I can thing of right now is that you have some third party (non DAZ) morph that autoload on V4 and does something to it, or that something is corrupt in you installation.

Does this happen to every item or just some or just a limited number, and does this happen on different kind of items or only "tops"?

It is possible that there is something third party involved i suppose. I do have items from share CG in my content though i think only props not clothes. Certainly nothing that i know of is loaded in this scene because i it is only V4 and the skin, and the clothing from Raiver.
This has happened a lot lately, hence my frustration, and affects everything, not limited to tops at all. I have been trying to get my content into some kind of order lately, but have not done anything that i can think of that might explain this.

Then I guess something has trashed your V4 installation, try to reinstall V4 and the morphs. I know some third party morph installs sometimes wreck havoc on V4 in DS (as they are for Poser Only) and though uses .pmd files.

I deleted V4 and then restored her. DIM makes that so easy. I tried to fit the Raiver top to her, and then several other items of clothing, all worked without any problem. Conclusion is your right, there was some corruption somewhere.
Thank you so much for the help...

Yes, well done Totte, I knew there was something deeply wrong, glad you were around to sort it out, thanks.

I'm glad V4 is working normally for you now davidahr, best wishes.

It's a good thing I spend time reading the threads in these forums; maybe more time than I do using Carrara or DAZ Studio.

This is good for me because if a mishap like this had happened to me I might have immediately blamed the screwy database design and relationships.

A thousand thank you's from we who lurk to learn. :P

Great to hear it worked. As the data is simple (mostly plain text) but at the same time very complex, things loaded will change behaviors of other things, a problem like this usually means that something has been corrupted. And as I stated above, I know from experience that some free things you install are right out hazardous to your system as they change things in very specific ways, usually because who ever made it didin't have full understanding of how things works, or the things works perfect in Poser but screws up DAZ Studio.
