Is it possible to rename the various surfaces at an object?

    The short answer is yes. However, before going further I would ask why? And also, what type of "object" are you referring to? Changing the surface names for some types of content could very well "break" them and render them unuseable. If you are talking about a simple prop that employs cryptic surface names, that is one thing, but renaming the surfaces of most purchased content would be inadviseable, in my opinion, as there are many ways that could go wrong. Not to mention that there is no way you can change surface names within DAZ Studio itself that I am aware of, if that is what you are asking. You would need to edit the content files manually outside of DAZ Studio.

    Can you provide an example of what you wish to edit?

    You can definitely do it within DS - use the geometry editor tool. Hope this helps.
