GoZ is convenient, no worrying about scale/axis presets or finding files. However, it doesn't carry over grouping (selection groups or surfaces) which are useful, and vital if you are painting maps on a Daz human figure.
If you want to make a morph to an existing character/clothing/object, then GoZ is very convenient (when it works properly; it seems to randomly not work at all and the only solution I have found is to reinstall DS). Morphs can be made in Zbrush and then exported as objects and these objects can be loaded on to the figure etc in DS using Morph Loader Pro, however as Richard said, there can be issues relating to scale and axis.
If you want to make a specific pose adjustment morph to clothing or correct problems caused by autofit in DS, then using GoZ is great (again, when GoZ works properly). It would be even better if DAZ made it possible to have mesh Smoothing/Pull-Push/Move brushes directly in DS, but this feature has been requested for years and it is still not available, so don't hold your breath.
You can partly achieve this for push, if you apply a push modifier and a push modifier weigth node, then you can paint the areas you wanted pushed.
But you cannot do that for smotth, at least what I know.
Just about everything you have said is why I started this thread. For years I've used GoZ making small adjustments, but I'm getting fed up with it because it hit misses on bigger projects and that wastes my time. I've went down the route of obj's only to discover it the obj comes into daz studio as microscopic and the positioning is all wrong.
Is there is a step by step that I could follow?
If I were to create an obj in zBrush, would do I need to do bring that obj in to fit exactly on the model as sculpted in zBrush?
Just make sure you use the same preset when exporting and importing - I use the one for modo, which seems to be right.
