Need Rendering help!

Hello

I know I have an older laptop but Poser Pro 2014 seems to work pretty decent. I don't have any huge issues with it. I have Windows 7 on a 64 Bit Acer Aspire 5100, Radeon Express 1100 series. I have up to date drivers for my graphic card.

When I render, my figure looks more like a cartoon figure? That is not my goal at all. Attached is an image of what my render looks like. I have all of the maps on the default that the Michael 4 figure came with and I have some added texture. Nothing major. I didn't mess with any settings. Everything is pretty much on default. I'm not denying the possibility my graphics card might not be able to handle the render but older versions use to work okay. Is there a setting I can toy with to correct it?

I know bump maps, textures and lighting is the way to get the finest details. I am aiming for the most natural skin / realistic figure.

Thanks!

I would say first off your render settings are far too low moove the slider all the way to the right . are you using the default lighting set up?

    Hi BigDave,

Thanks for responding! Yes, everything I did to the model is default. I didn't mess with any lighting settings except move them around a bit with the light controls. I will try to move the slider and see what that does. I had Poser Pro 12 and older versions that rendered fine on my old laptop. I'm not ruling out that because of the age of my laptop maybe my graphics card can't render anymore. Who knows?

Okay guys... I am getting frustrated. I know this is probably something simple that can fix this. My model is still rendering like a cartoon as you see in the attached picture of my work. I got the settings up so you can see them. I moved the slider all the way to the right. I am still getting my model looking like a cartoon! Not my goal at all.

Is there settings I need to check and change to get this to render the way I want?

    Thanks!

I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. :)

You say that everything is on the default and that you haven't changed any settings. So just to make sure, you're using the default light set PP2014 loads with, right? Also, and this is just a recommendation, but try to stay away from the "auto" render settings. They tend to do "interesting" things. I've attached my normal render settings. Keep in mind this works for me (and it may not work for you) and it is just a starting point to adjust as needed.

What I'd really like to know is what skin texture you're using. What's showing in your preview is not the texture M4 loads with. Depending on the texture you've selected, it could be a number of things, including how the texture and the render settings you have checked (or not checked) interact.

If you start Poser with a fresh scene (default lights, default camera, default everything), load a default M4 (just double click to load him and nothing else), and use the render settings I posted, what do you get?

I figured it out! Thanks for the help Saba!

It was the combination of render settings and a texture I had loaded in the material room. It was obvious that the texture I was trying to use for the skin wasn't agreeing with the rendering I was aiming for.
