Ok, sorry, but could someone perhaps summarize the main points of EULA? Given that I've only been using DAZ a few days I'm not quite ready to become a DAZ attorney. :-)
Does this help? What can I NOT do with characters I purchase from the DAZ store?
OK. well for a start you should realise that what you are actually purchasing is a license to use the content, the content itself still belongs to Daz 3D. Daz Studio (DS) and all it's add-ons and the Genesis Starter Essentials are included in this.
The license that you purchase is only for you.so you can't give it away or even lend it to a friend. You can copy it on to any computer which is owned and only used by you, but you cannot legally pass a copy on to somebody else (subject to the terms of the Intereactive license which we will come to later)
Any images that you make you can give away or sell, as well as any videos or animations. Also any games you make which only contain images (ie 2d sprites). You cannot distribute any part of the actual content that you downloaded, not even in a modfied or derirative version.
I think this part of the EULA is quite clear
The Content is for User’s exclusive use and no other individual or entity. Each individual must obtain his or her own license to use the Content.
You can modify it for your own use, but not for anyone elses. Clothes etc you can make your own new versions In fact most content of this nature comes with templates to make it easy for you to design new styles. The ones that are completely your own work you can give away or sell, but they have to be 100% your own work, or if you have used a "Merchants Resource" then you need to abide by the EULA of that resource, These new styles must be packed in such a way as to not include any part of the original content. Equally so with your own morphs and/or poses, they need to be stripped of anything belonging to the original package.
Are you with me so far? do you have any questions with what I have said so far?
Thanks for a very helpful reply Chohole, much appreciated. This should do it, I only have a few questions.
Ok, DAZ owns the content, got it. How permanent is my license? Could I wake up one day to discover my DAZ content has vanished? Is DAZ Studio and any content I purchase entirely on my machine, and thus entirely independent of the Internet and DAZ the company?
Ok, I can give away or sell any images or videos I make with DAZ? Do I understand this correctly? So as long as I'm exchanging a finished product in image or video form, I'm free to do what I please?

Content and DS are installed on your machine. You need an internet connection only to download and install new content, not to work in DS.

Yes, you can give away or sell images and videos made with DS and content sold at Daz (even content "sold" as free in the store). If you use content from other places then you will need to check their licences (some freebies available on other sites don't alllow commercial use, for example).

If yes, that pretty well answers my question.
Thanks again for your summary, very helpful.

Thanks for confirming my understanding Leana, much appreciated.
