Making a tattoo stronger using a Geo Shell?

Hello everyone. I want tattoos I made in Photoshop to show really clearly on my character's skin.

Originally I opened the UV map and put them on there, but they blend with the skin and it's very hard to see them.

Then I read this thread

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/66660/how-do-i-do-this-in-iray-solved

I made the Geo Shell, but I'm failing to understand past that.

I have torso tattoos, so that area is on. And it either looks different in the render (i.e. the shell is obviously lighter than the rest of the skin)

Or I match the shell to the skin settings, but that makes it worthless, and there is no change.

I'd like to make my tattoos look clearer and with more definition like when they were in Photoshop. Any advice? Thank you!

Do you have the tattoo on both the base colour and the translucency textures? Translucency is set high on most newer Iray characters, so you may need to have the tattoo on both layers for it to render with optimal visibility. This may be a lot simpler than setting up a geoshell.

Oh! I'll try that right now, thank you!

They look a lot better. Thank you!
