How to speed up render times

Hello everyone!

I'm currently using Daz to make so scenes in order to learn some of the basics to this amazing program. I've seen some other forums that go into some talks about possible ways of speeding up rendering times, but I was just wondering if there is anything obvious that I am currently missing. RIght now, I have set Daz to render solely with my GPU (specs are below), but for a scene, which I set to a resolution of 1920x1080 (render quality set to 1, max samples set to 5000), the renders take an average constant of 1 hour and 20-30 minutes.

Thanks in advance!

Computer Specs:

CPU: i7-8700K

GPU: GTX1080Ti (11GB VRAM)

RAM: 32GB GSkills

That is a lot of render time. Is it that long for all images? Does the rendering really happen on the GPU (check the log under Help-->Troubleshooting)? If other scenes render faster, and this one renders only one that is so slow: What is in the scene, if you mind sharing? Darker scenes tend to rend longer, also certain shader render longer.

    Are you using IRAY?

If so, while this won't speed up "completetion" there's a trick where you can render at a larger size and then manually rescale to 1080p while results in a sharper image than a render of the same length at 1080p. I render everything at 4k and scale it down these days.

    "manual oversampling"

  • Lower your max sample to 200-500 and set your resolution to 4k.
