Urban Future 4 - in Poser 2012. I want to render a scene, looking upwards from a subway, to the sidewalk and the building beyond. I'll attach 2 images. The posed model (where you can see what's up on the street), and the render, where the street won't render.

Check the properties tab for the missing buildings. Did any of the visibility settings get unchecked?

If it's visible in the viewport, it should be renderable?

Nope. You can set things visible in the viewport but invisible in the camera. On the properties pane, if "Visible in Camera" is unchecked, it won't show up in the render, but will remain visible in the viewport.

This shows what I mean. The bridge is shown in the viewport, but because I unchecked Visible in Camera in the properties it's invisible in the spot render. However it still casts shadows and is visible in the water since Visible in Raytracing is still checked.

Wow, I didn't know that. When I figure out what building it is, I'll check it. Thanks!

Select a tool, translation for example (it's the one in yellow upper left of my screen), and just click on it in the viewport. Your selection will automatically change to what it is.

I don't know, I think it didn't work. Everything is checked, but the building still doesn't render.

OMG! I figured it out. What we're seeing is the underside of the Poser ground plane. The subway is below the ground plane, so when the camera is tilted up, the ground blocks the building during the render. I made the ground plane invisible and the subway and building up on the street render perfectly.

Okay, now what's with the line of red dots running across the render? They aren't there in the viewport when viewing the scene, but show up during the render.

That's part of a futuristic street sign. If you look closely, you'll notice the words "No Access". It's intended as part of the set. The DS and Poser preview windows use low resolution textures which makes small details like this often invisible.

Thanks for telling me. I would never have figured that out. I'm going to try and get rid of it somehow.

I didn't pick up the text, either. I think my eyes skipped it assuming it was on the street, but I didn't have the set to load up.

About the ground plane, you're not the first to get caught by that. I'm ALWAYS forgetting to turn that freakin' thing off.
