clothes for Genesis 8 figure not "working"? help!

I'm using a Genesis 8 figure and want to add clothes, but when I tried applying some stuff from the Genesis 8 starter pack, it won't work.  Something "flashes" on the screen but the clothes won't apply.  Please help!  Also, his feet are stuck under the floor.  I can't remember how to move the entire figure up/down. :(

Thanks!

The problem description makes me think that you are loading a material for the clothes (which would indeed do nothing when applied to G8) rather than the actual clothes.

Yes the items I clicked were "Materials".  I found some clothes that said "wardrobe" and they seemed to work.  So is that what I need to look for?

Yes, you need to load the actual clothes first, then you can select the clothes in the scene and apply materials to them if you want to change them from the default ones.

To move a figure vertically in space, there's several possibilities.
Select your figure; make sure the entire figure is selected, not just a single body part.

    - Edit -> Figure -> Move To Floor (does what is says.)

    - Parameters -> Transforms -> Translation -> Y Translate (move your figure vertically by either moving the slider or entering a numerical value. 0 is ground level.)

    - Tools -> Translate (Move your figure vertically by grabbing the green arrow with your cursor and draging the figure up or down.)
