I don't understand the version numbers...

Hey all,
Just reinstalled after some time away.
I installed 4.10, but see mentions of what seem to be much newer/later versions, including 4.8 and even 4.9. I don't see any info regarding an update in the installer.
What's the deal?
Thanks

10 is greater than 9, so it is newer. The greater the version number, the newer (closer to now) the release.
The dot is not a decimal point.
Version number is not a single decimal number, it's a set of independant values separated by dots, usually <major version>.<minor version> with optional "patch number" and "build number" afterwards.
Decimal number 4.10 is indeed lower than decimal number 4.8, but version number 4.10 means "minor version 10 of major version 4", which is newer than "minor version 8 of major version 4".
So, I'd be looking for 4.10.0, not 4.10...
I don't think I've ever seen incremental releases without a second decimal, but hey... I may be mis-remembering. :)
Guess I have the newest version, then.
The latest version is 4.10.0.123 - you can get the full version number from Help>About Daz Studio...
There is also a beta 4.11 , if you are feeling adventurous. I believe it can install next to 4.10.
It can and appears to be very stable.
Yes, betas will coexist with the release version - the only thing they share is the content management service (they don't share content directory settings, though, so if you have customised your set-up you will need to adjust the beta to match - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/save_mapped_paths/start will help with that, and http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/general_ui/copy_ui_from_channel/start can be used to match the UI layout)
