I'm so confused, what do I need!
I'm a long time Daz user and want to keep my Daz 3 as I love the dynamics, using V3, V4 when I want and it's as solid as a rock and ready for when inspiration strikes.
I'm looking to install the new Daz 4 as I love the look of the new V6 but I'm so confused to what I need!
There's Autofit, Gen Generation, V4/ M4 shapes for Gen, GenX Addon, V4 skins, Autofit converter, Gen 2 Female,V6 and Gen 2 morphs bundle and more!
Do I need all these?
Perhaps it's easier if I write what I would love;
Be able to use the new V6, have morphs, use V4 clothing, hair and shapes on her or on Genesis2, which I think I understand is a base.
Also dynamics, I can't find anything about being able to use dynamic cloth in the new Daz4.
I hope someone can help as my head is spinning;)

Dynamics is Built into DS4.6 just like DS3 and the PAY plugin comes Updated for it as well. You can use V4 Textures on G2F (V6) by saving them off the Genesis1 (free) as a DUF Material File. V4 Hairs can be Shaped with the Paramaters and Parented or Converted to Genesis1 and then the converted version used as well. The conversions can be as easy as saving as a New Asset most of the time.
DS3 and DS4+ can both live on one PC side by side and DS4+ can read your DS3 Folder just as well as DS3 but items that only work in DS3 like some plugins will not work in DS4.
For you You need the Free Genesis Starter package the Free G2F package and then V6. Beyond that will depend on your other needs. Want V4 morph characters on V6 then you need Gen X to transfer first to Genesis and then to do Hand transfer to G2F. All that is covered here in the forums. Or ask more questions and we will help as you go.
Thank you so much! You made it sound simple...so I'm glad I asked before purchasing lots of things I probably wouldn't need.
I think you need Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female to use V4 skins on Genesis 2 or V6 and to auto fix V4 clothes to Genesis 2 and V6.
I would honestly suggest this as well:
V4 Skins Converter for Genesis 2 Female
While not necessary, it is REALLY useful to "speed up" the conversion of V4 Skins to G2F's setup. For the attached image (as a test) I used Mihrelle's MRL Gabi texture (the easiest one I could find in my rather... sizable... directory) as a test for the script. I couple seconds later, it was nicely applied to my base G2F figure. Granted, it is necessary to have the V4 Shape for G2F in order to use V4 textures and autofit on G2F, as well as this script, but I strongly, strongly suggest it. Also, just for fun, I used Raiya's Vianne for Victoria 6 SSS settings on the figure as well, at 50%. I have to say, overall, I'm fairly pleased with the result.
I'm not sure if your question has been answered previously, but unless you intend to work with the first Genesis (still my favorite at this point, but as more content becomes available for G2F, I'm really liking her a lot) you don't have much need for the G3/4 shapes for Genesis (unless you plan to do the manual conversion covered in this forums) nor the morph sets, and Genesis Generation X does not yet support G2F. So, at this point, you may want to consider (depending on your budget)
Victoria 6 Pro Bundle
Genesis 2 Female(s) Morph Bundle
V4 Skins Converter for Genesis 2 Female
Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female
Shape Shift for Genesis 2 Female and V6
Genesis 2 Female Head Morph Resource Kit I
Genesis 2 Female Resource Kit II
Growing Up for Genesis 2 Female(s)/V6
Again, depending on your budget, but to really maximize the morphing power of your Genesis 2 figure, I would currently suggest these products. Additionally, with the V4 shape, you can make use of your old V4 textures, hair, and clothing on the new Gen2F/V6. I hope this helps you out.
Thank you all for the suggestions, I'll certainly take them onboard when purchasing the extras.
I really like the look of V6 as V4's problem areas seem to have been resolved...arms,legs,hands neck etc.... is this correct?
Visioneer, thank you, the Skin Converter sounds like a must-have! I certainly want to keep using my collection of V4 hair and clothing;)
Genesis and the Genesis 2 Female are included in DS. Genesis can go from andro to male to female to child. Basic purchase for Genesis would be the Evolution Head and Body morphs and the Evolution Expression morphs.
Everything else in the Gen 5 line is a morph set of Genesis. Geneis by default uses V4 textures so if you have a lot of them, you don't need to immediately invest in new textures. Most of the Gen5 have their own UV's as well.
Genesis 2 Female reintroduces the gender split. At the very least, you need to purchase the head and body morphs (they come bundled so it is cheaper). All the current Gen6 figures are morph sets of G2F.
If you are unfamiliar with Genesis and DS4.6, I would recommend you pick up the Evo morphs and work with it before dumping a great deal of money into it.
Genesis does offer the legacy shapes for the Gen 4 figures and the Gen 3 figures. Including David 3. Watch the FastGrab category. Some of the Gen5 Pro bundles with in there not too long ago. DAZ is also giving V5 and M5 bunldles with C8.5. Which version depend if you are buying standard or pro.
Just my 2 cents.
The bends and problem areas of V4 are LESS present than in Genesis/G2F, but they still aren't perfect. The Flexion morphs available in the Genesis Muscularity Morph set really help with these, and there are a number of 3rd party bend morphs. The neck area, in my experience, handles quite well in Genesis/G2F, but the bigger issues lie in the hips, glutes, and shoulders. While not terrible for the most part, they can get a bit annoying and require some tweaking if you aren't getting the result you like. (Investment in other 3rd party morphs can help with this, but as always, that tends to cost a little more. Personally, between the last couple years and this months PC Anniversary sale, I really don't want to think of how much I've spent to maximize the versatility of my Genesis figures. :/)
Thank you so much Mark128 ,Icprncss and Visioneer, it's a lot clearer now, and my P/p is going to take a hammering;)
Extra morphs are still the go but it's good to know V is starting to get her kinks ironed out.
The V6 pics look pretty good especially when you compare to the old V2 or V3 lol!
One more thing, does the new Gen have a long neck morph as I couldn't live without my V4 long neck morph?
