Importing Objects?

Simply Put:
I downloaded a bunch of free items from places like Deviantart
Where are the folder locations for DAZ content so I can place the objects there?

Objects as in OBJ files?
Yeah
Are they OBJ items (or some other), or in DAZ Studio/Poser format?
DAZ and Poser formats would go in a folder structure like that already used by Studio, whether in a new library or added to your existing one. Just make sure to add the new library mapping to Studio so it can be found.
OBJ formats cannot be opened directly from the DAZ Studio Format or Poser Format directories, but you can create a new entry under Other Import Formats and map it to a folder structure of your choice, where you would have your items in various sub-folders (if you have that many). The OBJ items will show in the Content library, and the usual methods for adding content to the scene will open the .obj import dialog (no need to hunt around for the right folder in an Open File dialog).
I do not know how others would be handled, but I imagine something similar for all recognized formats.
Sorry, Richard, cross-posting again...
I usually put the item in C:\Temp on my Windows computer, and then just import it into Studio (or Hexagon) from there.
Just drag&drop the OBJ files from your windows explorer into the DazStudio viewport this is possible the easiest import method.
But depending for which program they where made for the objects could be in the wrong size for Daz Studio in this case you can select the object in the scene scale it untill it fits another reference object like a 1m³ cube or a genesis figure, remember the scaling from the slider and do another import. This time use the File > Import dialog where you can choose the right import size like the scaling you remembered from the first import to have the objects by default scaled to 100%.
