I managed to work something out with setting the initialisation time higher
Nice! Really cool image.
Yes, I can "see" the wind.
thanks a lot!
Why isn't the magnet object showing in my scene? I see it in the scene view as "DForce Magnet" but nothing is showing up in the viewport. I set the size to max and tried different rotations. Any ideas?
Maybe the script crashes? What does the Daz log say?
When I run the dForce Magnet script, the magnet is nowhere near the spot. In fact, it's location is 0,0,0 relative to clothing. It thought it just vanished, but instead it disappeared inside the figure. When I watch the tutorials, this doesn't happen. What am I doing wrong?
The attachment shows the flow of what I did:
set tool to geometry editor
select a mesh node
run the script
magnet is created at 0,0,0 and not at the mesh mode.
You could try setting the garment to Base Resolution before selecting the mesh. Geometry Editor selects strange things, when the irem is subdivided in High Resolution.
I don't understand that. You can see the yellow square in the top image. Look at these perspectives. The magnet is not attached to the vertex. Not even close. (Base resolution is selected in the images below)
I just tested again with Daz Studio 4.23.0.1 and I see no issues:
Can you post the Daz log? I want to see what vertex the script sees. It should look something like this:

If I try to run a similation. The magnet starts at 0,0,0 relative to the crop top. It jumps down immediately to the mesh vertex. The only key settings in the animation are magnet = 0,0,0 at frame 0 and magnet = 0,0,-20 at frame 40 with 60 total frames.
During the simulation the magnet pointer moves away from the figure angles UP even though neither the Y coordinate nor the Y rotate value is changing. It's as if the other end of the magnet is the axis point on the magnet pointer.
The garment explodes around frame 33. I'm attaching an animated gif.
And they stripped out the animation.

I am using 4.22. I can't upgrade at this time.
This is the asset: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-chb-pleated-pants-outfit-for-genesis-9-and-8-female
I have this product. I'll see if I can reproduce the proble. I am using 4.23.0.4 Beta, though. dForce Magnet is "old", though. It shouldn't require the latest DS version. Your 4.22 should be fine.
What is the goal of your magnet simulation? Are you trying to move part of the garment or hold it in place or ???
jmucchiello I think at least part of your problem comes from a misunderstanding. Have you watched the videos that esha has posted in this thread? It looks like you are selecting a vertex on a garment that is on a morphed and posed figure. A dForce magnet attaches itself to the selected vertex in the basic shape of the object. That means the unposed unmorphed shape of the crop top. If you were to reset your character to the base G9 shape and pose, you would see the magnet attached to the vertex as it appears in the basic shape of the garment. (At least it did for me when trying to follow your steps.) esha explains how to work around that morphed character issue in the video attached to this message.
Edit: RE the explosion: By dragging the magnet straight up toward the breast, you might be dragging it into a position insde the character or intersecting with another part of the garment. Using a magnet is still a dForce simulation, subject to all the normal issues like intersecting geometry causing explosions.
Why doesn't anyone understand? I DID NOT MOVE THE MAGNET *****UP***** AT ALL. The magnet is starting wherever the hell it wants to. The only change, if you look at the parameters shown in the images, is at the start of the simulation Z=0 for the magnet. At the end of the simulation Z=-20. Absolutely nothing else is modified during the simulation. I did not pull the magnet UP at all. I just want the front of the garmet to shift away from her chest 20 units. I have absolutely no idea why the magnet is tilting or moving upwards. That is my issue.
Now, I had no idea you had to start with a T-pose figure. Where does it say that? The PDF only says be careful when zeroing poses. It says nothing about where the figure should be posed to start.
I sincerely apologize for misinterpreting your Z axis change as a vertical movement! I have been in Blender so much lately, where Z is up/down, that, and the GIF implying upward movement distorted my thinking. However, you need to watch that video I linked. It still addresses your problem and is probably the explanation for why the magnet moves in a direction you do not expect. dForce Magnet can only work within the restrictions of Daz Studio Geometry Editor and dForce implementation. That makes some uses less straight forward and more complicated. esha has provided a lot of tips in her videos. She addressed user questions that came up after the product was released. Her videos are worth watching.
Thanks for all the help @barbult. I agree that you should look at esha's video:
The main help in that video is the "don't start with a posed figure" statement. Thanks for the time.
You're welcome! Sorry, I could not be of more help.
