Skin "dissolving" when rendering

Hey guys.
I’m a novice user of DAZ and have come across a rather strange problem that I hope someone knows how to solve.
The problem occurs when I try to render a specific genesis 8F character. The skin loads fine but as the render
progresses the skin, instead of having more details added to it, is slowly dissolving so that when the render is finished
the character is completely transparent. Very odd.

Appreciate much any suggestions.

    Hey!

Could you be more specific than just "a specific genesis 8F character"? May I ask if the character you mention is Shylo for Genesis 8 Female from PA Marcius?

I experienced the same problem with the above mentioned character, and I was scratching my head as well.

Have you looked in the Documentation Center? You can open it by right clicking on the product in the Smart Content tab and clicking on "More Information...".

For this specific character, Shylo I found the following:

    "Additional Details

To Render Correctly in Daz Studio 4.10 you will need to set the background color or to turn on environment dome in render settings."

It solved it for me, but I'm disappointed that it wasn't mentioned on the product page.

    Regards,

    Flux

  • This affects materials using Chromatic SSS - another fix is to set the SSS Scattering type to mono in the Surfaces pane, or the bug is fixed in the version of Iray included in the current public beta 4.11.0.236.

  • Hi again,

Appreciate the respons. The problem I had was for the character "Emmeline".
I found out, just like Richard mentions, that there is a common bug in Daz 4.10 and
its handling of chromatic SSS skin presets. However this is fixed in Daz 4.11 beta and
when I downloaded that and tested it worked fine.

    many thanks
