Vanishing hair

Greets,

Anyone out there know what might be happening with this hair?

The image is generated after applying the hair and following the mat instructions for said hair, environment has no changes. there is a spotlight, but it is there inan attempt to see if this was being caused by there not being a light for iRay to work with.

The interesting part is that pass 1 of the iRay render, the hair is a full set; however, with each pass it becomes more and more transparent. I looked into the hair properties, but nothing jumps out at me right off the top, so figure I better ask before I screwed the hair configurations up. Also, what ever the issue is does NOT effect the skullcap textures, but it does effect both hair sets...

Thanks in advance.

Oh Hairs are:

Again, I have made NO changes to the hair or material settings (other than selecting and applying the materials.)

If you're using 4.10 it might be the same problem as in this thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/304896/skin-dissolving-when-rendering

This does appear to be the same issue.

Interestingly enough knowing what to look for I turned off the SSS for one section of the hair on one of the girls that cannot be seen, and it resolved the issue for both girls... not sure what is up with that, but it is listed as a "bug".

Downloaded and installed the 4.11 beta as also suggested, but it is in fact not an upgrade, but a completely new installation. The time involved in getting the libraries back in order and the interface setup, is not something I am interested in getting involved with right now :|

Thank you for the help and information.

Betas install in a different location and with different settings than the general release, so you can have both the latest stable version and the beta installed at the same time.

You can have the beta use the same settings as the General release, Rob has a sample script for this http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/save_mapped_paths/start - download, using the button above the code, drag into the Viewport of the general release; the script will then prompt you to save a file, do so then start the Public Build (beta) and drag that saved script into its Viewport.
