Editing DUF files

Every now and then I DL a resource that has s csll to a file, usually textures, that is not included in it's target directory. If the offending file is Poser compatible (pz2, cr2 etc) I can open it in a text editor and make the necessary correction. However if the file is a DUF then the text editor displays a screen full of jibberish. It may simplybe that the DUF file is compressed. So, is there a program available that can open and edit a DUF file? Or one that caan decompress DUF files? I tried using the Batch Editor but that was a dead end.

The Batch Convert pane will uncompress files, but I usually use the 7Zip context menu (right-click>7-Zip>Extract Here) in a file browser window. WinZip will do the same, and i imagien there are Mac equivalents if there isn't a built-in tool. You want GZ archive format support.
Batch Convert has always worked for me when uncompressing DUF files
Perhaps explaining what you did that was dead end might help others to help you
Richard and Szark: Thank you boht for the excellent counsel. I just tried the Catch Batch converter and it worked like a charm. I'm thinkin' that perhaps I hadn't checked the DUF the last time I tried it; or, more likely, it was a case of operator head space and timing. Richard, I wasn't aware that 7Zip could work like that to uncompress a file: I've alays used it to unpack ZIP files. Now I know!
