Merge new figure question

Hello,

Is there an easy way to replace a figure in a scene with a new figure, basically swapping figures, but keeping pose and possibly even wardrobe?

Right now, the way I am doing it is tedious. First I merge the new figure into the scene, then I select the original figure and Edit/Copy/Copy Figure. Then select the new figure and Edit/Paste/Paste Figure Pose. From there I have to move the new figure into the space the old figure occupied and then reapply wardrobe items.

It would be nice if there was just a way to swap the figure but keep everything else the same.

Let me understand (and please forgive me: I don't know if you're an expert user or a newbie, so don't get offended if my answer seems obvious): do you wanto to swap completely different base-figures (i.e. Genesis 2 female and male, or Genesis 2 male and Genesis 3 male) or different characters for the same base figures (i.e. Gia and Giselle for Genesis 2 female)? In the second case you just need to go to go to dial in the shaping options for the different characters you own, and apply the materials you want; in the first, sorry, I can't imagine something different from what you're already doing.

  • If you are using the same figure, with different shapes, then you can have a Character preset apply to the loaded figure instead of loading a new figure (as long as the current figure is selected). I can't recall if that's the default behaviour - in any event, if it doesn't happen now go to Edit>Preferences (Daz Studio>Preferences on a Mac) and in the Content tab select Show the options dialogue for When loading a .duf character.

Thank you for the response. But I want to load a totally different figure with it's own shapes. Not the same figure.

"In the second case you just need to go to go to dial in the shaping options for the different characters you own, and apply the materials you want"

That will work, but I still have to go in and change a lot if the two different characters have different custom morphs. So I guess I will stick to what I'm doing.
